The new average PLD for May was R$$411,49/MWh in the southeast/middle-west and south, R$ 418,20/MWh in the northeast, and R$ 171,95/MWh in the north.

On May 31 2017, Aneel decided to authorize re-publication of the Price for Settling Differences (PLD) for the 2nd, 3rd and 4th operating weeks of May. The new average PLD for May was R$ 411,49/MWh in the southeast/middle-west and south, R$ 418,20/MWh in the northeast, and R$ 171,95/MWh in the north.

The request was filed by the Electric Energy Trading Chamber on May 26, 2017, claiming that adjustments in the structural Unit Variable Cost of some thermal plants winning the 20th, 21st, 22nd and 23rd Auctions were not performed as stipulated in regulations. According to the Chamber, this request is due to inconsistencies in the NEWAVE model for the month of May 2017, processed by the National System Operator (ONS) and the CCEE itself.

The new re-published prices increased between R$ 4,00/MWh and R$ 8,00/MWh a week. This is the result of the following:
