The PLD increased as much as 155% compared to the previous week
The Price for Settling Differences (PLD) for the week of July 1 – 7 2017 was set at R$ 223,32/MWh in all sub-markets. In the southeast/middle-west, this was a 45% increase compared to the previous week, when the PLD was R$ 160,62/MWh.
The largest increase was in the south, where it went up 155% from the
R$ 91,44/MWh PLD in the previous week. In the north and northeast, where the PLD had been R$ 178,85/MWh, the weekly increase was 30%.
The higher prices are primarily because flows in July are expected to be below the long-term average in all sub-markets.
The weekly PLD is influenced by hydro plant reservoir levels, forecast affluent natural energy and estimated use of energy across the country, among other factors.
