Within just a month, the PLD went back up to the ceiling
The PLD (Price for Settling differences or spot price) for the week of September 9 – 15 2017 reached the ceiling defined by Aneel, the National Electric Energy Agency, or R$ 533,82/MWh; right now, it is the same across the entire country. The PLD had dropped from the ceiling in the weeks following August 12, 2017.
This is an 8% increase compared to last week, and is primarily the result of poor flow forecasts and low reservoir levels across the entire National Integrated System (SIN).
The weekly PLD is influenced by hydro plant reservoir levels, forecast natural affluent energy and estimated use of energy across the country, among other factors.
